Description

Beyond the gates of the monastery, you will find a church built in stone with a unique architecture, commissioned by Alexandru Lăpuşneanu. Father Superior Macarius turns the recess in the basement into a small church. This makes Pângăraţi Monastery unique as it has two churches, one on top of the other, with different entrances and patron saints. The two churches communicate, inside, through a very narrow and steep spiral staircase made in stone. Quite remarkable is the imposing silhouette of the new church on the hill nearby, which increases the value of the monastic complex – an important Christian Orthodox spiritual and cultural abode.
